Fall Leaves

It's been about as cold as it gets here in California. We had to get our jackets out. We had a very nice afternoon recently where the fall air was slightly chilly, but the afternoon sun was warm. Andrew and I walked out to meet the girls scootering home from school. On the way out and back we took the opportunity to crunch leaves and jump in the leaf piles in the street. The girls had boundless energy, this being an annual tradition for them. But Andrew was more reserved, as he is just learning to jump at all and the pile was half his height. I was grateful to have a moment to enjoy my children. Minutes later I was hurrying them off and into the car, one of them struggling with tears, for swimming lessons.

One of my favorite pictures is Emma maybe 2 or so, almost buried in the leaves after she jumped in them. I think she was afraid to jump in them at first too. I'm looking forward to the Christmas blog update!
