general conference

The first weekend in October is General Conference, a semiannual conference in my church where talks from our church leaders are broadcast from Utah to the world. I was looking forward to hearing the words from the prophet and apostles, and not just because I could wear my pajamas, sit on the couch and watch TV all weekend, even Sunday.

As always, there were several talks that touched my heart and contained words that are inspiring and helpful. This time there was one talk that I wanted to share with you. This talk, given by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, was unique. It is probably the most powerfully given talk I've ever heard in conference. He testifies as an apostle of Jesus Christ of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I am asking you to spend the time and watch it here. (If that link doesn't work, the page with all of the talks is here, and you can find his name under Sunday afternoon and see your options.) I don't often speak of God outside our home and church. I respect others' views and beliefs and don't want to try to change anyone. But, I do know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I have felt the Lord's love and seen His hand in my life. I believe in eternal life and that families can be together forever.
