3rd surgery

Last week we met with a plastic surgeon. He was positive about trying reconstruction and my upcoming treatments. We decided to move forward and they didn't waste any time in scheduling a 3rd surgery.

I am now home recovering from surgery number three, which occurred on Friday afternoon. The surgeons were able to remove more skin and we should get the pathology results back later this week. This surgery was at the surgicenter in the clinic so I have been able to recover at home without IVs. This has been nice, but it's been more painful than the first surgeries. After my first two surgeries, the first week of recovery was tough. But during the second week I could see improvements in my energy levels and range of motion in my arms every day. So I can see that people do actually recover from surgery – eventually.

I am enjoying the roses, daffodils, blossoming magnolia, and other flowers in my room and outside of my windows. All of the cards are strung up on ribbons around the room. The kids are doing well and Mike has been wonderful. The kids were out of school on winter break this week. They had fun with cousins and friends, including a trip to the beach, to Zeum (a multi media children's museum in San Francisco), to Happy Hollow (mini amusement park and zoo), Sadie went to Disney on Ice with a friend, Emma had her first trip to the Mall with a friend, and dentist appointments (it's always fun to watch a movie in the dental chair and then get two stickers, a toy and a pencil from Dr. Kelly – he even sent me flowers).
