We bring our family birthday season to a close with our eldest daughter's celebration. Elise has reached the age of eleven. The age I've been waiting for, the age that brings the ability to babysit siblings here in California. I have been reveling in this new ability with quick trips to pick a child up or running an errand without everyone. I marvel and sigh in peace when I climb into the van by myself and have a few minutes of peace and quiet. I think Elise is excited and proud to have more responsibility.
She had a good birthday. Jammie and Grandpa were able to join us for her birthday dinner. Instead of a party, she invited a cousin and a friend to go to Raging Waters in San Jose. The girls and Mom had a fun time on the water slides and in the wave pool. Her favorite gift was a new digital camera from Dad. But many others came in a close second. She got a new book and handmade horse pillow from Grandma Mickie and Grandpa Duane. She received several other books too - two long awaited for ones from Jammie and Grandpa, and an amazon gift certificate for two other special books from Grandma Cherie. Her siblings gave her a tomogotchi and another toy like that, also the classic movie Singing in the Rain.
