This year both Emma and Elise have been doing Destination Imagination. A couple of weeks ago, they had their competition and had a lot of fun.
Emma's team, The Only Exception, did the mythology mission challenge. It was an improv challenge that included research into several countries and their mythological creatures, preparing an outline of a skit that would need to incorporate an Unexpected Problem that they were given on the spot. For the competition, they were given Japan and Amano-jaku as the mythological creature. They did a creative skit about some brothers and their mustaches. The Unexpected Problem was the loss of hair.

Elise's team, Go Green!, returned for a third year, doing the Triple Take Roadshow challenge. They had to communicate the same story or message using three different methods of communication to three unique, pretend audiences, and two unique travel methods between. They did a toothpaste commercial. First in iambic pentameter to an Elizabethan audience. They then traveled by submarine to a mermaid convention underwater and delivered the commercial in sign-language, mimicking the Old Spice commercials. They then time traveled to a Glee stage to sing and dance the message to a bunch of GleeKs to the tune of Dynamite (here's a funny parody of the same song).
Both teams did well and had a lot of fun. Go Green! came in second place in their division and will be going on to the state competition in April.
