heidi's funeral

P1000639

Emma and I were able to take a quick trip to Utah to be there for my friend, Heidi's funeral. Emma and Heidi's daughter, Kaylie are best friends. Many years ago, when they lived close to us, Emma and Kaylie were in Joy School together. In January, Emma went on the Disney Cruise with their family.  Heidi had been fighting cancer for the last few years. She was a great strength, resource and friend to me as I went through my cancer battle.

The funeral was a wonderful celebration of her life. She was so giving and thoughtful, full of energy and a great friend.  As much as we miss her, she was ready to start her next journey. We are grateful for our knowledge of our loving Heavenly Father, the gospel and eternal families.

It was a long day with the viewing, funeral, gravesite dedication, and luncheon. We spent a little time back at their house to help put things away and for Emma and Kaylie to have a bit more time together. Then Emma and I drove down to Salt Lake City to walk around downtown, the new mall, and temple square. The tulips were out and beautiful. Our flight was delayed a few hours, so we didn't get home until almost 1am. But it was worth it. I was grateful to be there.
